Everyone here looks like they just heard the doorbell. The pumpkin and the moon share the same round-eyed, rosy-cheeked gasp, one in a striped bow tie, the other in a bow tie and a striped party hat tipped to one side. The black cat, under a small orange witch’s hat and a ruffled collar, seems to have known all along.
They’re drawn in the style of Halloween decorations from decades back, and below each face trails a long tail of crepe paper streamers in orange or black. The faces are printed front and back, so when one of them turns on its string, there’s still somebody looking your way. Give the cat the spot with the best view. It will take it anyway.
