Deep evergreen tulle, tier after ruffled tier, scattered all over with gold foil stars that flash whenever your kid turns. Look closely and there are appliqués tucked into the layers too: candy canes, Santa hats, mittens.
It is a lot of cape for one small person, which is rather the point. Down the stairs it goes, wide and green and full of stars, with the tinsel on the railing doing its best to keep up.

Why we love it
A cape is the fastest costume change there is. One knot at the neck and the ordinary Tuesday sweater underneath becomes something worth spinning in, which is why this one tends to stay on right through dinner.
