A wizard's cape in deep royal blue, scattered with ivory stars and one fat crescent moon, with a small capelet layered over the shoulders and a gathered neck. The mulberry silk is light enough to lift when its wearer turns, and long enough to trail a bit behind.
Silk does the spell-casting here: it catches window light, it swishes on the stairs, it drapes. Wear it with a pointed hat, a jar of fireflies, a very serious expression. Then hang it on the bedpost, where it can look mysterious until morning.
