Three witches, eyes closed, entirely at ease at cruising altitude. Each one rides her own broomstick in a pointed black honeycomb hat and a full striped honeycomb skirt: black and orange for one, black and mint for the next, black and lilac for the third. Their curls and calm little smiles suggest this is not their first flight.
The hats pop into shape with magnetic closures, and the skirts fan out and stay open with black paperclips that come in the pack. Then a silver moon and a scattering of silver stars go up around them, and the party room or the porch has a night sky of its own, with traffic.
